On Sunday, July 8, Paul Pino and the Tone Daddies will play their spirited original New Mexican music from 5-7 pm, at McDonald Park in Carrizozo . (www.paulpino.com) Energetic Spanish music interspersed with quiet ballads will get everyone up dancin’. The Carrizozo Little League will sell cold drinks and burgers hot off the grill. Bring a lawn chair or kick off your shoes and dance in the park!
Paul Pino was born on a ranch just outside of Carrizozo, and learned to love a variety of music by climbing to the top of the ranch windmill where a transistor radio would pick up music from Kansas City at sundown. As a kid, he was exposed to rock and roll, Spanish poetry and music and cowboy songs, all of which influence his performance. The rest of the band features Jesse Paul on percussion and vocals, Greg Martinez, on bass and backup vocals, and Brian Marquez, lead guitar, harmonica and vocals. The band has three goals: to promote pride and joy in New Mexican cultures through original compositions and popular variety music, to support communities, schools, businesses and activities which help New Mexicans, and finally to inspire dancing on the tables, spontaneous revelry and general euphoria and musical ecstasy.
And plan to come early and browse the shops and galleries along historic 12th Street.
McDonald Park is located right on Rte. 54 near the post office. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move to the Woman's Club building on 11th at D Ave.
